The new growth on top is so different from the lower leaves....I thought the mature leaves would be green and the new growth more that bluish colour...seems to be the other way round...:>)

I bought one of these as a young tree with the juvenile growth. Now it is a 20ft. tree bearing cones of its own and very nice too if you have the space. There is a picture of thre cone in my photos about the 6th batch as you go through them.

The mature needles are green...the blue is the juvenile foliage.

Thats what i thought Bluespruce.....why is the new growth at the bottom?....:>)

It's not the new growth as such, it just looks like it because it's juvenile. Some pines have the ability to produce juvenile foliage in conjunction with adult foliage as young seedlings and plants. This combination usually only lasts for a few years until the adult foliage becomes dominant.
