I bought two others that were different from ones that I've seen before. One a new Aussie dendrobium hybrid that grows outdoors (minus the frost) and another called Oerstedella centradenia with bamboo like foliage and cute little lavender-pink flowers. The Paph. above was $22 and I have killed this type before...figured I try my luck with some different varieties.

Understandable then. I've killed many things in the past which I no longer bother with. Hardy orchids for one and asiatic primulas for another. Sometimes you just have to accept prevailing conditions. Hope the ones you did buy go well for you.
