ah yes...that was it. my red delph seeds look like duds...no germination as yet...hope they do..at $2.95 a pack, ....feels like I made a donation to their retirement fund!

Hi Ickle! the only supplier of seed of pumpkin "Munchkin" I could find in the UK was sarahraven.com (BBC Gardeners' World presenter). I have had feedback from patients at work who are familiar with it from the US and Canada (perhaps someone from there might recognise it?). Often used there as window decor at hallo'een time, but wholly edible, too, even though they are only less than 5" diameter. I have a couple of recipes. Kew gardens website suggests scooping out and stuffing with goat's cheese and pesto before roasting. The suggestion on the seed packets advises to roast whole on a bed of rosemary. I will be combining the lot, lol! (Have I managed to get YOUR salivary glands working overtime now, I wonder, lol?) Anyway, we have 4 plants outdoors and one in the greenhouse. All, at the moment, have 6 flower buds forming. Am not sure how tall or far they ramble, but are supposed to be prolific fruiters. Go on - have a go. Our whole village will be having them this year as I included my leftover seeds in a planting/sowing session I was asked to take with the 5/6 yr-olds at the local school 2 weeks ago. Every seed germinated.

ooooo David.... U certainly did!! I was adament i wouldn't like pumpkin before i tried it and yet I love the taste especially roasted! Im doing well for recipes Lori gave me one for my asparagus and now i have some pumpkin ones to try! Thanx!! Maybe we could have a section on the site featuring tried and tested recipes from the produce we grow haha!! We're growing Atlantic Giants, Jack o all Trades, Sweet Lightning, Pepita, Gemstore and some winter squash too! They are going in the pig pen so have plenty of space and rich soil!

Hmm, Ickle, pumpkins and squashes growing in the pig pen, eh? I have tried out a few times a recipe I found for pumpkin and bacon ovenbake - it's really good as a supper dish (must find it again). Do you have one for this, or shall I relay it 2u?

keep the recipes coming i love trying out new ones i tried making sticky roasted veg by adding balsamic vinegar the other nite i think i went a bit overboard on the balsamic but it was yum! oh and the piggies have been moved out to their new pen and we're rotavating and preparing the soil first!!
