Full Moon 02/29/10 Close

Its was so bright but restrained in the mist to a subtle more yellow moonlight.

Should have looked at this one first Gt....Smashing....

Is 'Quickening Moon' what it's called? and what does it mean? :))

Called the quickening Moon for the time of year that it occurs out of the 12 or 13 each year. This one gets things started again, like the breath of life back into the world. A first sign of spring. Things change quickly under this moon, the world of winter receding and the plants coming back to life. Hope it brings with it something new for me to do. :-)

This is a from the old calender, a seasonal calender. Prairie tribes of North America call it the Strong Winds moon. New beginnings and discovery. All represent the springtime!

We only get moonlight half the year, so this is one of the last I'll see in a night sky until September.

Our seasons are really mixed up over here. We've had a bad, snowy Winter this year which is unusual nowadays but a few years ago would have been normal. We used to have sayings for each month like 'February fill-dyke' which was when the snow was melting and filling all the ditches etc., and 'March roars in like a Lion and goes out like a Lamb' but nowadays none of it makes any sense! Not that I'm complaining! :))

I agree. Seems a little topsy-turvey lately in weather patterns. Interesting, but I would like it to calm down a little. :-)
