If you have newts then you are a very lucky person. Good luck with you pond it certainly brings in the wildlife...a suggestion that you have a shallow edge somewhere so that the wildlife can use it easily and get in and out o.k. Plants like small grasses are good to grow near the edge as the dragonflies and damselflies climb up them to dry off from emerging out of the water when fully developed.
