It's cold, almost sunless, narrow path to the garden. It's draughty (east wind), with pipes, drains, vents and the outside tap. Depressing. I made a shelf to fit the mop-bucket (maximum size between the drainpipe and the door). Ivy is Ok there but only green. I've tried 2 other Euonymous - slightly larger but they lost their variegation and didn't thrive. Put this one "harlequin" in in the Autumn and it's survived! Encouraged,I've just added a "plug viola"...

Thanks TT. I've tried all sorts of things. There's a trough of green ivy opposite the door, doing well. Only just room for friends to get their bikes in!
