Thanks, Janette. Spring is a very special time in our garden. We have to work at getting flower colour into it in the summer, but in the Spring it comes all by itself!

The laurel - Aucuba, (the yellow evergreen on the right of the picture) is cut down to about four inches in height in June. The the bulk of foliage is not needed during the summer because of the volume of growth in the pots of begonias and bizzie lizzies. The Aucuba then spends the rest of the summer growing again and is ready for the winter when we do need something bright to look at.
