This photo shows the upper terrace prior to the steps going in. Steps were always the plan but I hadn't thought far enough ahead to know how I was going to construct them.
In the end I made sure the posts were in place but we turfed right across so needed to dig back down through what we'd laid. Came up with the solution of using a hardpoint handsaw! Cut through like a dream and created the straightest edges you could ever imagine - better than a spade or lawn edger could have achieved considering I was cutting a foot and a half down and 4 foot in.
Blunted my saw but hey-ho it was only a B&Q value saw and the results were perfect! The turf just lifted straight up for use elsewhere.
