Somebody said: "I think trees look much better in the winter" so I dedicate this picture to that somebody. Anybody want to guess (I don't mean Search) who it is?
It's a tree seen from inside our front garden.
Taken in August 2009.

This is a great shot Gurth. All that dark stormy cloud in the distance but bright gentle sun across the tree garden and housetops. I can feel that cool breeze and smell the moisture. :-) I'm not sure who said it, but I agree I think, they are so stunning all bare.

Drc, bravo for trying to answer an impossible sort of riddle. My excuse is, that for everyone who has a go, someone else might be terribly amused. So take a shot, please, everybody! Doesn't matter if you're wrong, nobody's expecting you to be right !
Thanks, Gt, it was just one of those sights that might not be repeated.

My daughter says The Fir Tree Christmas Story by Hans Christian Anderson?

Looks like a silver birch,is it.

Drc and daughter: I think the writer will be pleased to be compared to Hans Christian Anderson. One day he will tell us what he thinks of that.. unless it is a she, of course...
I just read that story myself, so I would know what you were talking about...
A73, I don't know... I'll let you know if I find out... There is another photo of this tree in my blog "Trees in Jessie's Garden" under the title "A Very Tall Tree"...

It's funny thinking of winter in August We're still waiting for summer then. Lol.

A73, I enquired, apparently it is "merely" a humble, plain plane tree.
I never saw such a tall one ! It goes on and on, into the sky...
Right now we are being fairly flooded with leaves from it.
Come on, girls and boys, you are coming to the end of your guessing time.
You'll kick yourselves afterwards for not guessing - it's someone you know very well ! Just how well you can't imagine.

Was it a Goy member last year?

Drc726, it is one of your Favourite Members. Name please... I won't tell you if it is right or wrong till the others have hopefully had a shot at it... a day or two more.

Good photo.
I shall return to this pic to find out if my guess is correct...:o)

Terra, you are supposed to amuse us with your guess, not keep it to yourself !
:o( (if you like, you can give us a list of your guesses in the order you think most likely. It's no use being wise after the event !) (There is no penalty for being right, either).

Someone living in Sir Gar ;o) ?

Thanks for your bold response, Terra.
I won't tell you if it is right or wrong till the others have hopefully had a shot at it... a day or two more.
Anybody agree with Terra?

Hi Gurth...
Looking forward to my prize for knowing it was our friend from Sir Gar ;o) Lol.

Loved your moody photo, not that I would agree with the caption, I would say some trees look better in winter........just looking at our native Silver birch just getting its greenery......a picture !!

Thanks, Dd. :o)
I wouldn't exactly agree with the caption myself, but I think it is an opinion equally valid as my own, which I in no way disclose. My first aim in this case was to meet Hywel's requirement. Had I not come across his comment, I would not even have thought of posting this picture. Not yet, anyway.
Terratoonie, no further prize - your prize is already in your heart. :o)

Sounds like something the painter Rowland Hilder might have said? The tree and winter light reminded me of some of his paintings. I had one (copy) in my dining room for many years
