Me too it really does seem that the winter is over when the birds start singing like this. He went on for over an hour from the same perch. He allowed me 2 photos before moving to the overhead wires further along the garden.

We have a really loud blackbird this year who revels in his song. Last years could't be bothered. I think some like singing and others are henpacked and have to nest build, feed the Mrs not 'waste' time on frivolous activities like delighting everyone with his song.

It is so cheerful hearing the birds singing Dorjac, by the way Hywel has just posted a blog (Wild Spring Flowers 19th April) showing a very clear bee fly so you can check that out to see if that is what you have.

About our blackbird Pavarotti. Yesterday we had a visitor who had an epic journey back from the far east. So lots to talk about, men's voices mainly, in the garden. He sang ALL the time they/we were talking. As soon as they left the garden he stopped and went about his business.....all very strange
