Wed 7th March '10...PAEONIA SHOOTS

Motinot, do you have membrane under the shingle, or is it straight on to the earth, I have membrane under mine and trying to find something I will know will grow in it

Straight in the soil Y/shire...This is a raised bed...quite narrow and not at all deep...its probably not sufficient to grow anything large...but this Paeony has been there for about 8 years, maybe more and has flowered very well each year....I dont know much about growing through membrane....:>))

I have grown stuff through membrane. Just cut a cross for a hole and stick the plant in as usua, water in,l then replace the membrane and gravel. I didn't do anything special. Everything grew fine.

I suppose any plant will grow through membrane then.....

Well, if it's something that tends to 'run' then I guess it wouldn't be able to spread, but other than that I can't see why not....
