I was out at the weekend tidying after the winter. Not done anything for the last couple of days with work commitments etc. Oh how I long for retirement when I can spend all my time in the garden, only thing is I won't have the money then will I?
Oh, and all my hyacinths are turning blue. Very strange

Its probably something to do with the soil ! Dont wish your life away please - it will come soon enough, and like you say, cash will be a problem perhaps, like it is for me.
I have been out buying plants again today, another clematis, dianthus, and hanging basket plants. I do so enjoy spending on plants.

A beautifull combination of plants there, Cinderella. What colours have you chosen?

Well the clematis is Niobe, a dark red, which I have had before and lost, and I want it to go up through the remains of a bottle brush tree that has unfortunately died through the winter. I have cut off most of the branches, and it is completely dead, but I cannot dig it out so I thought I would use it as support for a clematis.
The dianthus is a lovely sugar pink and smells beautiful. Thats for another part of the garden, dont know where yet. It was an impulse buy. The colour and perfume got to me !
But my basket plants are mostly pink and mauve and white.

This winter killed a lot of plants, didn't it? But what nature has taken, we can adapt. The botle brush tree should look lovely with the clematis growing through it, and the thought of a scented dianthus is wonderful. My husband, (not a gardener) planted a basket for me in pink, purple and white ~ and it looks lovely.

I cant wait to start planting things out, but there could still be a frost, and also with these cold winds - we shall have to be patient a little longer.
I'm sure your basket will be lovely, its all my favourite colours.
