Lots of bloom coming on too isn't there. Glad it took well to the move. Always a plus. :-)

I gingerly stuck a fork under it and it came out so easily in one go with all the roots and the compost attached so I felt fairly confident. Generally they are reasonably easy to move, as are rhododendrons, because their roots are quite compact and fairly shallow. It's getting quite big now though and I wouldn't like to move one much bigger than this!

Good choice of time to move it then. Now it can get big here in its corner. :-) I'll have to remember that about rhodo. We've wild plant with wonderful spring blooms I just discovered is a rhodo at one of the shows Owdboggy posted. I must brave moving a few into the garden. :-)

Yes, as long as it's not rhododendron ponticum GT!! That is a terrible invasive plant and I believe is has been 'outlawed'!!

Rhododendron subarcticum, its a native. We call it labrador tea. I've lately realized what lovely blooms it gets and then learning it is rhododendron and hearing that moving it wouldn't be as bad as I thought. I am excited needless to say. :-) Most do not do well here.

Oooooh! That's beautiful!! I would definitely want that in my garden! hope it goes well for you, and that it has similar roots to the rhodys I can grow! I would suggest you do what I did....stick a fork under it and see if it comes out easily with it's roots in a ball. If it doesn't, and the soil is moist, you might not have such an easy task!

Yes, just looked, lovely, it looks like a white meadow in it's natural setting.

There are a few spots where it covers all over, definately a meadow look. Having known it as a tea for years, I can't believe its a rhodo!

I can tell you are really excited, I do hope it transplants ok.....keep me informed!
