Where to I start. This beautiful south west garden has not been touched and the small garden over the wall belongs to my neighbour and they have neglected it. This is a potential vegetable plot.

Thank you to everyone for replying so far. I am glad I only have a small garden as it all seems to daunting. I want to be really brave and just plant anywhere and everywhere but when you watch gardening programmes it seems that there is some exact science in gardening which immediately puts me off!

Do you know, I couldn't agree more. It's one of my pet hates that gardening programmes seem to make everything look so complicated. I think it's because they are running out of things to talk about! I mean, let's face it, to grow a bean you get a pot of compost, push a bean in, water it, stick it on a windowsill and it grows. But they'd never just say that on one of these shows!
Anyway, rant over, welcome to GoY ;-) lol
When you're just starting out, you'll have a few disasters - we all do - but you learn by them. Remember that plants want to grow and most will do so with the least attention from us!

Oh, and remember to plan things so that your veg plot gets the most sun possible ;-)
