Our 3 Tier strawberry & herb planter. 2 rows of strawberrys and a selection of herbs on the top that we'd use for cooking.

They all look nice and healthy. I found a green caterpillar on my strawberries today and it was weaving a silkin web over itself after biting holes in the leaves. I plucked it off and placed it in the middle of some dirt where hopefully the birds will eat it.

Not found any on strawberrys yet but found plenty of slugs on my plants around the garden. They're eating the leaves like anything so going to have to get some slug pellets me thinks.

If you have hedgehogs and of course the birds eat slugs, and you use slug pellets you can poison them too because they eat the slugs poisoned by the pellets. If you use the pellets can I suggest you pick up the dead slugs and snails. I go out of a morning or evening and pick up the slugs and snails bag them and crush them, they come out in force with dew about or if its raining. Last year the wasps took the caterpillars off my veggie patch and I didn't have to spray until the late autumn. Sharp grit or finely crushed eggs shells or copper coins stuck round pots. Just a suggestion to try. On these pots you could place a larger outer saucer of water down then an upturned one then the saucer of water under the main pot slugs can't swim, but I suppose there's always one! LOL.

Oooh thank you for that info Lindak. I've just gone out and bought some slug pellets. We haven't got birds coming in the garden as yet nor hedgehogs so think i'll go ahead with the pellets for now. But next year after garden is established a lot more I won't bother with the pellets and put egg shells down.
