Meanie:
It is not in the pine family (Pinaceae). It's in the tropical family Pandanaceae. Most are native to the tropical south sea islands.

Andy- is this possible in Haytown? It seems to grow fast in soucal..outgrow frost?

Most likely this one would not grow there...it's just too tropical. There's some other species which are hardier.
It's not very fast-growing here. In the tropics it grows faster.
