Your right!
It's a creek and those reeds take over so the maintenance crew either cut them all out once or so a yr. but I see they are leaving clumps for the wild life's nest now, so when the reeds start to grow back it looks like this. I thought it rather attractive as it's a rare sight to see such greenery in LA. I enjoy going there.

That's an interesting explanation. Thank you.
Nice that the crews are planning and thinking of the wild life.
A good green area :o)

looks beautifully fresh and green now will it go brown as it gets hotter?

No, it's stays green because of the creek and there is a sprinkler system installed that recycles water from the creek to water most of the areaI love it for that reason, plus I can hear myself think as it's peaceful,. It was a natural creek but it's extended by man.( Can they leave anything alone? ) As there is a very big and expensive housing estate on the other side of the creek and more plans to build more :-( and another up the bluffs the other side and also a university. As the summer comes and bcoz of less rain parts of it turn to dead brown & dusty and it's rare to see a flower. So Spring time is the time to get out for walks. I try to explore as often as I can as I think Spring is the nicest time in LA, visually anyway.
Love the summer for the beach days and I hang around there most of the time ( only 3 miles away ) as it gets too hot for hikes in the mountains plus it's so dried up too & dusty.
