Why do you put pebbles around the base?

Hi Annelise...
Keeps the roots cool to have rocks, stones or pebbles around the base.
A good thing to do when growing clematis..
I hope this helps you.. :o)

I've messaged you in your inbox Annelise explaining tips with Clematis.
As you can see, Terratoonie has given you free advise already. You'll get plenty of that on here with these fab guys

Thanks TT - shall do that with the pebbles when I plant my Clematis.
Just read your reply Steve., thanks for the tips.
When should I buy my Clematis to plant?

Your welcome Annelise.
You should buy your Clematis's & plant now. Just make sure you cover them roots up well with pebbles or bark. Don't place in direct sun unles stated on tag. Not heard of a Clematis that likes full sun yet but sure someone may tell me otherwise! lol
