I"m really excited about this one, Gt... it has FIVE buds! Our weather took a very long time to warm up...we had frost last night... but young plants must be more resilient in the cold that mature ones...because every perennial in my garden has hunkered down ...today is the first warm day in a very long time... the cold north wind has gone and the sun is warm. I've been keeping this one indoors...but it really needs to go into the ground soon...

Glad its warming up for you a bit. We've continued on our warm streak but I don't trust it at all. Would iris drop its buds if it were hardened off and put out? I didn't think they drop buds for anything.

No ..It would not drop it's buds but they might be frozen and never open. I'm just being fussy... I have the spot ready for it... been out weeding and adding compost...it's quite seasonable today... I think you are right to not trust the weather...we've had a week or so of 60's and 70's back at the middle of April, then it swung back to early spring temps and we had snow! The perennials really popped during the warm early spring...and then just sat there confused by the snow, high winds and COLD....
