I'm afraid that I have to rise to the defence of the poor old Magpie as they are only one of many birds and animals which prey on eggs,nestlings and young birds. All the crow family of which the Magpie is one have this tendency as does the Great Spotted Woodpecker. Squirrels will also indulge in this activity an badgers will descimate whole colonies of ground nesting birds. Don't forget to remember all the raptors. The aforementioned is just the tip of the iceberg but the poor old Magpie is crucified when he is far from alone.

I have to agree, Toto. Just another link in the food chain. This one must be a youngster because he will stay on the table even if I open the window.
