Do you keep this pollarded, Karen?

No, I don't Wagger, it is still a baby so no need to prune it yet. It grows very slowly, unlike the Gunnii....which have been severely cut back this year!

Mine's about twenty foot tall, I grow it for the bark and flowers. My Gunnii are ok this year but the Dalrympleana has a couple of completely dead branches. :-(((

Does that mean you cut yours back then Wagger ..... does it flower on new growth ?
I don't know much about eucalyptus but love them.

No, I don't cut mine at all - I'm not a flower arranger, when I cut some young branches off one I gave them to the local florist. I grow them as trees then moan about the shade, lol.

You're fortunate enough to have the space for them though.
I had a Gunnii in a garden in a previous life about a hundred years ago, and i'd love to see what it looks like now !

Can't you go for a drive-past? I bet you don't miss the leaves falling all year round.

I like the way that Pauciflora carries all it's leaves at the top of the tree. Do you think it will respond well to pruning wagger? I don't want it to be 20' tall. 10' will do nicely!

Leaves falling on a Gunnii Wagger ..... it didn't lose them - it was evergreen ...... no, i don't get near that area these days - a bit out of the way now :-(

You can coppice or pollard them, Karen- it depends what sort of shape you want. The RHS do guides on both
Even evergreens lose their leaves, Louise - and Eucalypts shed shedloads, particularly in summer.

True, i don't remember the one i had shedding that many though ...... the people there after me would have had it to contend with though ;-)
Unless .... they did away with all the plants ..... i've seen 'that' - a nicely established garden that new owners have dug up and ripped apart !

Oh no Louise, don't speak about that .....gardenacide!! What a horrble thought!

Very fond of Eucalyptus, we grow two as I love the colour of the leaves.
