Welcome to Goy from me to. Tired but happy would be a better title. You sound like you live on a little house on the prairie (hillside). Your husband had the right idea in planting an orchard. High time this country started being self sufficient again. You can't compare the taste of home grown apples and a far travelled foreign one can you. The New Zealanders and South Africans seem to deliver on taste but not the French. How do you find the polytunnel affects the taste of fruit and veg. This year I was disappointed that the fruit farm where we have been picking our own for a few years had gone under cover. Maybe I am losing my sense of taste but the strawberries were tasteless and watery.
