Thanks Pip c and Terratoonie. It is a lovely purple isn't it? I had 2 cuttings given to me last year of a really dark blue hydrangea. They are still in small pots and I will be potting them on into slightly larger ones any time now. Will let you know how they get on, and if they keep the same dark blue from the original plant they came from. - I DO HOPE SO!!!!

Maybe you already know this.... The flower colour depends on the type of soil in which the hydrangeas are planted... the more acid the soil, the more likely the petals will turn blue, so use ericaceous compost :o)
