Just taken this shot of a Phal with the sun behind it. Placed some black card behind it (in the line of site) when I was shooting to complete the effect. Interestingly, the best results were taken well back with a telephoto lense.

Hi Meanie ... I had a look and it's fantastic when viewed enlarged. You have some great photos on your Flickr page ... so now you have a new contact!

Thank you - I really like this site, & it's a great source of info & inspiration. But it's a shame that the photos are so heavily compressed. Case of point are your sunset pics which I've just taken a very quick look at ( I'll take a proper look in a day or two ). That's why on selected photos I add the links.
I lucked into this shot, but we all need a little luck sometimes!

Have to agree about the photos ... that's why I joined the Flickr site, so members of my family could see the photos enlarged. My granddaughter loves to see them up close!
You certainly got a great shot with this one.

is that the same as 'paint' that is installed on my computer?
clarity is lovely on this but on your second one it is beautiful

No, it's an open source (free) editing program that I downloaded.
Much like photoshop, but not as good. As I dislike manipulating photos, this was good enough. Good for taking out blemishes etc, without messing with the integrity of the photo.

i prefer to keep it simple myself, possibly because i cant fathom all those layer things on photoshop
but i just happily take lots of photos ~ sometimes one comes out well ~ im happy enough with that.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with it per se, it's just how I prefer to do it.
To be honest, I get better results with the camera set to manual, which suits me fine - all my own work!
But short of cutting that stem off, there was no way around this one...........

but great that it is a solvable problem.

I think so...........
