Hitchcock? Birds eat the putty from the windows (at our house and our neighbours')
We tried to mix some homemade chili powder (extremely hót) through the putty, then applied it again, but to no avail

There's obviously something in it that they like , it will be the Linseed oil I should think .. what a nuisance for you !

Yes, that might be the case. We thought the same. Quite a nuisance, my husband can repair them endlessly.

Birds are the only creatures known not to be affected by capsicin, Hilda. In the wild, chillis rely on them for dispersal through their droppings. Hope you don't have to resort to putting bird silhouettes stickers on the inside of your windows. What a "pane"! :-(
