These trees are happily growing in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA.

Magnolia grandiflora grows very large...these trees are still young. Ficus trees however, do grow much larger...they are the true giants of the plants kingdom.

This Mysore fig is still a baby...probably 30 years old or so -- it still has another 300 to 600+ years to live. Many Ficus species are reported live more than 2,000 years...although, it's very difficult to document such a long-lived tree.

I always thought M. grandiflora was big until i just saw that Ficus !!!
