Violas that naturalized from last years dropped seed. I collected lots of seeds and have taken care of them in a cold frame. This lot just looked after themselves under the snow and ice. I think next year I will simpy broadcast the seeds and put some in pots and let them get on with it !!!

Thanks. I can't believe how well they have done considering they were covered in snow for a month !!. I had some bulbs in there too and once they finished the violas just took over and have gone from strength to strength. The seeds originally came from some plants that I bought locally about four years ago. I just love collecting seed and have nasturtiums and cosmos that i grew from last years seed. The Cosmos are alot smaller though and the nasturtiums are also smaller then some that I planted from a new packet. I have tried some black violas from seed too this year too but not sure if they are expected to flower the first year. Camera is at the ready in case they do!!
