Thanks, I was absolutely thrilled when this started to grow again. I didn't know anything about the different groups and ways to prune when I cut this back in the very late winter/early spring, I just knew it was a clematis! How lucky I am that it belongs to the group that likes to be hard pruned, as I'm not sure it would have produced the amount of buds it has; last count was 18 flowers and up to 9 buds yet to open. That's if the rain doesn't ruin it before they get the chance!
