Natal Plum is one of the most widely planted, drought tolerant shrubs used in northern and southern coastal California. It blooms all year and produces egg-shaped plum-sized fruit which are edible. It is however, not related to the plum, but to the Plumeria, Oleander and Adenium...as it's in the Apocynaceae family. Photo taken May 27, 2010 at Ocean Beach, San Diego, CA.

Marguerite:
Thanks!
It is pretty amazing that these shrubs produces edible fruit! The fruit even exudes a milky sap...which is usually in many cases toxic to people.
