Northern copperhead

This little guy or girl must be one of last year's babies. It's difficult to tell from the photos, but he still has the greenish-yellow tail (changing to brown) that baby and juvenile copperheads possess. The tails of babies are bright yellow and are used to attract prey (caudal luring). The venom of young copperheads is also more potent than that of adults.

I wish you were here to pick up the snakes that seem to have made themselves welcome in my pond recently..Used to be petrified of them....but for the love of gardening I am not anymore, I accept them for what they are, they are harmless, which makes life a little better for me. :))

i see a lot of grass snackes .in church yard where i work in.. it do's not bite so i can pick them up.if im cutting grass

Pretty snake, I don't get to see many venomous ones this far north.
