My young Red Caribbean germinated a month ago...it was put into the ground last week. This is one of my favorite tasting papaya varieties. Photo taken June 16, 2010.

Mushybanna:
This plant may bloom and develop small fruit in late summer or early fall...which will not ripen until late spring or early next summer. Papayas are fast to extremely fast growing herbaceous plants. They go semi-dormant here in winter. They need a truly very hot tropical climate to grow well all year (or to be grown commercially).
