Sorry about the photo ... it's not that clear!

Hi Meanie ... yes this orchid has really long canes ... some are a metre long.

If those oval leaves just to the right of centre are the leaves of the orchid, it may well be a Dendrobium.

Yes those oval leaves would belong to the orchid ... you can just see them in front of the Fan Palm leaves. I was given this orchid a while back ... but the generous owner had no idea what it was!

This is the closest that I could find with a quick search..............

Bernieh:
Your orchid is looking great! I'm assuming that the majority of orchid species there bloom in winter just like here?

Hi Andy ... I don't have too many orchids. The orchid that has been my one and only until a few months ago flowers in the Autumn. Of the new ones I received recently only two have flowered so far ... and they have flowered either at the end of Autumn or the beginning of Winter.

Bernieh:
I don't have too many orchids either. However, some of the many orchids bloom in summer but autumn and winter seems to be their peak flowering time here.
The orchid family is the largest flowering family known in the world.

I'd hazzard a guess that it may be one of the rarer species Dendrobiums. Is the foliage growing on canes?
