I have just looked at your Palm pictures Andy, and they are great as usual.Palm trees and blue sky: perfect. Shame about the nursery closing.

Yes, it would be...however, it's just too hot in Fallbrook (where this garden and nursery is located in northern San Diego County) in summer.

Yes, it's usually pretty clear most of the time.

Thanks! I know it's a shame! I'm sure many members in the Palm Society are pretty sad about this nursery closing also.

Aha! My largest King palm from HD came from that grower. I bought in a 5 gallon, took it home in my old Toyota pickup. What is it now? 20+'? not bad for 8 years. My neighbor has them too. Larger, older, but since he has a very tall home.30'? His King palms shaded from hot sun and bay breezes have more fronds. They look more 9am to 3 pm canopies. I have 10 to 2 o Clock looking palms. Once mine got above the old detached garaged?..on their own!

I purchased many palms from Gary Wood at South Coast Palms. The king palms planted on Bruce Dr. in Fremont were purchased here. Gary used to do a yearly delivery to the SF Bay Area...we used to buy lots of palms...and they were very inexpensive.

King Palms grow best in full sun with tons of water and fertilizer.
