Hi I love this too unfortunately it is prone to mildew and i didn't catch it early enough this year and even the flowers are now affected, after searching the internet I find it is one of a few clematis that are prone to this.

Ah! You've just put me right off! Same with purpurea plena elegans isn't it.....makes it look really sad!

I love this one, have been thinking about adding it to my collection but haven't managed to quite yet. Such a beautiful velvety colour and lovely contrasting anthers!
