It's a Hawthorn shieldbug - discovered when I severely pruned the tamarisk!

Not sure, really. It's amongst the "predatory" shieldbugs but it's only up to 14mm long and it doesn't say what it eats!
I would not have noticed him (dim eyes at the moment) if it hadn't been for the bright red...
