I was very pleased that my Gauras came through the winter well. This was a new one last year.

Oh dear...I'm intending to take cuttings again...of all of them!

It's always good to have a back up plan.

I'd like to back up all of the more vulnerable plants, Meanie - but I'd need a colossal greenhouse to do that! lol.

Not if you collect the seed where possible! Easier to store than young plants, and always more satisfying to me. I've just started some Lobelia Queen Victoria from the seed that I'd collected and then misplaced.

Well done Meanie, will have to have a bash at this seed thingy......

Think I lost mine to last Winter too :~((

Oh dear. I'll try some cuttings, and you'll be top of the list, Flori! x

Ah bless you Spritz! I didn't think I had lost that much to last Winter, but the more I look around my garden and see what hasn't come back up, the more I become aware of how much I did lose :~(((

I daren't write down all that died off - it would be a scary list. :-((

Have a horrible feeling that you wouldn't be alone in that my friend....

I have replaced some but not like-for-like in most cases. I hate losing plants, don't you?
7 Jul, 2010
I may sound silly, but I take it very personally! I feel a responsibility to the plants I add into my garden, and losing even one is upsetting :~((.
I thought the Winter had killed off my Ceanothus tree as know a few who have lost theirs this year, but though a lot of dead wood, it is still mamaging to bloom a little.....I live in hope that it will recover given time.....
7 Jul, 2010
Oh yes, I know about that - I talk to my plants unashamedly. I wish your Ceanothus a speedy recovery! :-)))

I shall take the cuttings soon, Motinot, to get them rooted and potted up before the winter.

Nice one.
I lost mine over the winter, although on the plus side they're easy to grow from seed. Three are planted out, with four kept back to go under cover this winter.
