Are these edible?

Yes, eggfruit is edible. It has a unique flavor of maple and sweet potato. It is a very nutritious fruit, having high levels of carotene, vitamin B3, and other B vitamins.

I've never seen these before. What an interesting sounding flavour and they're nutritious...is there a yolk?

Lori:

No yolks. lol! : > )

The genus Pouteria has some of the most interesting fruits native from Central and northern South America. Many of the species grow well in CA.
