Double Petunias are finally coming into their own, Deadheading and watering is a bit of a delicate operation as the stems are quite easy to snap. Some flowers come out deformed too, really stunted and flat with alot of green in the middle.

There is a lovely mix. Having said I would try them again, I am now having second thoughts. They became very leggy and didn't like the wind and rain so I had to tie them up to make them look presentable and we have taken most of them up this week. I guess we got a good few weeks out of them but they have left a gap.

It's a shame when this happens Wendykins. There has been so many strong winds this summer which has damaged a vast amount of plants. I like petunias but one thing I don't like is they seem to go all sticky, so when you deadhead you land up all sticky........ Have you ever grown 'Million Bells'? They make a beautiful display in a basket. They're like miniature petunia...really pretty and several different colours.

I know just what you mean about the stickiness - yuk !! Another negative is that insects are attracted to the flowers but there is no pollen to get at because they are a mass of petals..
I have heard of million bells, would they be good for a longer period do you think ? I dead headed the petunias regularly, another yuk job after a shower as they go so slimy !! I am looking for something for next year that is going to keep producing a good show into September ideally, or am I being greedy ?!!!
