Despite the heat, she's bouncing back well after becoming very frost burnt from the late fost in May.

That'll be half a water butt that's been dumped on it in the last couple of weeks and about 30 litres of compost sitting under it after I moved it last November ... daren't lose it, it was a prezzie ... and we've lost everything else my Sister-in-law bought us.

I have a Pieris Forest Flame I inherited from my mother's garden and have been "nursing" it through many recent hot, dry sunny weeks...
I love working in my gardens in the hot weather, but am tired of lugging watering cans around my gardens !!! Rain forecast for Monday.. Yay.!

Terratoonie, I think the trick is to try to shade it from the East through to the South (essentially the morning to early afternoon sun). Ours is only small, but I think it has benefited from the peony that is behind it and the cherry tree to the right ... I'm going to place a hurdle behind it as we come out of winter next year before the peony and cherry come into leaf ... every Pieris I've looked at this year around these parts that are exposed to the East got burnt this year by the May 5th hard frost.
I shall continue the research :)
Teddygirl, I'm not surprised yours got sick - all that lime in the cement and a whack from the bucket. Poor soul. I think you could have only damaged it more by jumping up and down on it then setting fire to it :) They grow so slow too ... hope she's coming back.
