Yes Irish, they are a mushroom. Most people consider them a delicacy. I never knew about them until I moved to Ohio and I don't really care for them. They say roll them in flower and fry them in butter.
It's been really wet this spring with cool nights, so it's perfect for them.

They grow in teh UK too - but I believe they are quite rare and sort after. Never come across one myself.

If you sold that lot to a French restaurant you could probably retire on the proceeds.. Mmmmmgood.

A lot of people hunt them here and then sell them. The price per pound depends on the year.......if they're plentiful or hard to find. The weather is usually respondible for how plentiful they are. This year I saw someone selling them for $20.00 per pound and heard that they were going for $30-$40 a pound in the bigger cities.

Yum, that brings back fond memories. I used to go morel hunting with my grandmother when I was a child.
