Where 'do' they get these names from! The 'tutti-frutti' bit seems to be a new strain of Achillea.

Does look like a lovely colour :o)

Nice. I must admit I agree with you about the ame; I much prefer a saucy seduction!
20 Jul, 2010
Hmmm...I could have guessed that, Toto!
Pip - Lori... yes, I've found that a lot of Achillea last as a lovely colour for a few years and then revert to being 'Yarrow', and an 'off-white' colour. They get removed then!

Silly name pretty flower :-)
20 Jul, 2010
Absolutely! It's ridiculous. :-(((
20 Jul, 2010
They probably think it's creative! Still not the worst one, some the new echinaceas are horrid, like 'Tomato Soup' and 'Mac N' Cheese'.....
20 Jul, 2010
Oh dearie me. I won't be buying them! That's a real turn-off...
20 Jul, 2010
Tomato Soup? lol.... sounds like it's a failed attempt to produce orange strains...but Mac'n'cheese? Please!! they must be bulimic!
21 Jul, 2010
Dreadful names. Simply awful! :-(((((((
21 Jul, 2010
Personally I don't think your flowers should tell what you might have for dinner...
22 Jul, 2010
LOL......how true! Have you thought that they 'could' be edible ones? :-D)
22 Jul, 2010
LOL :-)
22 Jul, 2010
I bet the next thing will be Tomato-and-cheese LOL
23 Jul, 2010
Eeeeeuuuuggggghhhhhhh!!!!!! The mind boggles!
23 Jul, 2010
Spaghetti bolognese,or maybe carbonara!!!! ;-)
23 Jul, 2010
Fish 'n' chips 'n' mushy peas????
23 Jul, 2010
Hah,we can be on that forever...:-)))
24 Jul, 2010
How about 'chicken Schnitzel' or maybe 'Mortal sin cheesecake'? I could live on that forever LOL
25 Jul, 2010
Fun, isn't it - we should hire ourselves out to the plant breeders!
Raspberry Shortcake, anyone? I can imagine that one....:-))))
25 Jul, 2010
Lol,a quick googling gives you a ‘Raspberry Tart’ Echinacea :-)))
25 Jul, 2010
Too late, too late! Something more outlandish, I think....'Lemon or Orange Soufflee'? Classy plant!
25 Jul, 2010
there is ‘Meringue’ :-)
25 Jul, 2010
Hmmm....needs a sauce or cream with it, though! 'Whipped Cream Meringue'...lol.
25 Jul, 2010
There's a Coreopsis 'Creme Brulee'.Love google,hah???
25 Jul, 2010
I know that one, I have it already!
Hmm...'Coronation Chicken'? (what a horrible colour 'that' flower would be!) lol
25 Jul, 2010
ahaha surely you jest? the person who named the Achillea "saucy seduction" must have O.D.'d on Viagra.
25 Jul, 2010
Of course we jest, Lori... how about 'Sticky Date Pudding'? Yum!
26 Jul, 2010
Or 'Zabaglione'...now there's a good name - lots of people would accept that as a 'true' flower name - they might even think that Signor Z. had bred the plant! LOL.
Or - how about taking up Lori's thought on all this and call one 'Viagra'...maybe not - men might eat it for real, and hope! Hahaha....
26 Jul, 2010
Very funny....
26 Jul, 2010
Oh, I am, I am! ;-D)
26 Jul, 2010
We'll probably have to suffer food and seductive names for a while.Imagine when they get borded of that???
27 Jul, 2010
What will it be next? Transport? A Dahlia called 'London Bus'????? LOL.
27 Jul, 2010
Lets hope Dahlia 'London Bus' is bright red. May I suggest 'New York Taxi Cab' for a yellow cultivar?
28 Jul, 2010
I like that - a definite! :-))) There's an open-top bus that goes onto the moors - a brownish-red colour. So we could have Achillea 'Quantock Tour'....??
28 Jul, 2010
LOL :o)
28 Jul, 2010
Belive it or not,the creator of 'Mac n' Cheese' have got now an even more miserable Echinacea 'Now Cheesier'.I wish I was joking......
29 Jul, 2010
I wish you were, too....I would hesitate before buying that plant, I have to say. The name really puts me off...:-(((
29 Jul, 2010
My Gosh when will they stop? Although why anyone would call a plant 'Mac'n'cheese' it the first place? One would hope the flowers were yellow.
30 Jul, 2010
Yeah,yellow:-) Name is a definite put of!
Maybe some dark tulip will get named London cab ;-))
30 Jul, 2010
LOL. I'll stick to 'Queen of Night' thanks. :-)))
30 Jul, 2010
Some of those fancy Clematis hybrids are pretty confusing if you ask me...
31 Jul, 2010
How true! Imagine a committee sitting round scratching their heads for more outlandish names - with lists of the ones that already exist!
31 Jul, 2010
Yeah, and reject anything that sounds to 'normal' !
31 Jul, 2010
LOL......What's 'normal' these days?
1 Aug, 2010
Probably something like Clematis 'Bright Pink' or horror of horrors, 'Sunny Yellow'!
1 Aug, 2010
Noooooooo....those names are just AWFUL!! :-(((((
1 Aug, 2010
Okay, how bout just 'Pink' or 'Lilac'... doesn't work does it???
2 Aug, 2010
Nope. :-(((
2 Aug, 2010
'Sunny Yellow' is a sunflower waiting to be unleashed on us!!!!
2 Aug, 2010
At least it's appropriate to the plant - not something to eat. LOL.
2 Aug, 2010
lol
2 Aug, 2010
How about changing the 'Chocolate Cosmos' to 'Marmite on toast'?????? LOL
2 Aug, 2010
Or even better, something like 'Decadent Saucy Marmite Seduction'...
3 Aug, 2010
Yuck!
3 Aug, 2010
LOL, Pip.....that's sooooo funny! LOL.
3 Aug, 2010
;o)))
4 Aug, 2010
Oh, and by the way, I didn't write them down, but I spotted more Achilleas in the tutti-frutti seduction series - the name was so long on the label I couldn't even read the last part! (I wouldn't have bought it, anyway. The flower was a really dull faded pink...)

I love Yarrow...finally got it to grow in my front garden...was supposed to be orangey-red...but it's white!! alas. Haven't a clue what their trying to say with "tutti fruitti"...it looks more like a strawberry milkshake! Just another case of fooling around with as wildflower's genes...
