sweetcorn

Hi Kimmy, your sweetcorn plants look lovely and healthy. I've been thinking about growing some but dont know much about them. How many cobs do you get on one plant and do the plants take up a lot of space? How long is it from sowing to harvesting? hope you can give me some info!

This has been our first year planting veg and i think we've been very lucky with the sweetcorn.
We actually sowed the seeds way back at the end of march, where they sat on my kitchen window sill untill i needed more space and they were moved to out little mini green house 3wks later.
We had loads to do in the garden so there was a slight delay in getting them into thier own raised veg bed which was at the beginning of june. At one point we worried we were going to loose the lot after a very windy night had made a few look very wobbly so we added some supports and string to surround and support them.
Each plant has given us 3 cobs and they are really sweet and tasty, we've been picking them since early august.
Hope this is of some help, we will definately be planting sweetcorn again next year.

Thanks everso for that helpful info Kimmy, I will certainly give them a go next year.There's nothing like a fresh tender sweet corn is there?............Making my mouth water thinking of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
