Philodendron bipinnatifidum

Monstera?

Yes. I just looked it up, it is a type of Monstera. It's been banged around a lot. Had it in a large pot but it was always top heavy so the winds tiped it over. It's been in the ground since last year and it's leaves are huge.

You are welcome Alexandramous! Your monstera looks amazing, so big and beautiful. These are usually grown as house plants in colder areas but you can leave yours outdoors! How nice!!

This is not Monstera. It's Philodendron bipinnatifidum.

This is the most commonly planted Philodendron outdoors at low-elevations, in California. I think Philodendron 'Selluom' comes in at a very close second.

Not very common here...

This plant is around 18years old.....has lived through every weather condition from scortching heat to light frost to crazy winds.

This is the reason why there's so many, many millions of these plants growing everywhere in California. It's as tough as nails. It available for sale at every nursery and box store very cheap.

There's a few around my neighborhood which got burned a month ago from the severe heatwave. They will come back very fast, though.
