It's a large shrub - I give it a really hard prune in late April, cutting back to a woody framework. It's a late starter, beginning to shoot in mid May for me - is that your experience?

I've been considering one of these lately, i thought i read that it only grew to about 3' though :-/
I know it was a variant of 'this' one but still thought them to be shorter !

Yes when I first had them I was sure they were dead each spring? but the flower display is worth the wait and last for weeks. Hard to make trees as the branches grow to quick and the weight snaps the tree in half. But the trunk mends if tightly bound or they regrow from the ground which happened to mine, once mature they stop snapping.

Lousie - there are one or two species that stay smaller but for this one, allow for at least six feet
