Deep dark Red that could be passed as black.

This is more a maroon. Had another petal open up whilst we was at a nursery.
Got 2 hollyhocks in the sale. Double white & double red one. £2.50 each. Bargain. Photo to follow later or tomorrow

They do but not against by dark brown fence and sheds!! lol
I haven't potted this as yet as waiting to see if the other HH takes. If they do take then going to plant this in the small planter against the light wood or at the back of the whiskey barrel. Whiskey barrel is fav at the mo as got petunias that are on there last legs at the back

The only thing about putting in whiskey barrel is it'll only get sun in the morning to midday. Now i've heard they like part shade but the hollyhocks in suffolk I saw was in full wacking sun. The petals (saucers) was huggggeeee because of this! Oh what to do!! lol

mine in full sun to steve,, they do like room to grow so not sure how it would be in whiskey barrel, may look to big, a bit out of place, i think in borders is better myself, but its personal choice i guess

Yes they do. I might put it down the side border inbetween the last 2 trellis's. Have a bit of light to go behind it then! lol
