Hi Sandra - yes it is hardy. I love this plant - the foliage is grasslike and grey-green. It likes full sun and is drought tolerant. When the flowers go over, they are replaced by the most beautiful seed pods, which I can only describe as looking like translucent green marbles. It is easy to grow from seed.

I have seen this growing wild in Crete. Seeing plants in their native habitat gives you a good idea of the conditions they need in our gardens

Hi Sid, just brousing through your garden pages as you saggested, and on seeing this one thought i could pick your brains- i actually bought a plant off this from ebay a few weeks ago, but it seems to have died right back already - can you tell me is this normal for this time of year or is it more likely they have sent me a doggy plant? also if it is a doggy one is there any way i can revive it? thanks, will go back to brousing now.lol

Hi Angie - I'm afraid that doesnt sound good....they are evergreen more or less. When they flower, the flower stem does die back, but there should already be lots of new shoots at the base by that time, so it appears evergreen. They are a little slug prone and they like quite sharp drainage - don't think they'd like heavy soil and much wet. Sorry for the bad news. I'll send you some seeds if you like ;-)
