This is from indoors Yorkshire - I've had a nasty habit of killing Paphs, but learnt a couple of things.
Really chuffed about this as it's a new flowering stem from one of the other crowns. It suffered a bit from bud blast with the first few buds, but now has another two viable buds as well as this bloom!

Thanks Delonix - best of all it's a sequential bloomer too!

Meanie:

I've seen many of these bloom here...however, they only bloom in winter.

I must admit that I was surprised (and chuffed) when I spotted the new flower spike emerging!

Meanie:

It must be in the perfect spot...also your green-thumb helps also. lol. : > )

I put it into the conservatory to try to get the old spike to rebloom, but that died. I was just about to put it into the bathroom when I noticed the brand new spike emerging!

Meanie:

I know many times the old spike will generate new blooms. I've had that happen several times...the reason why I leave the old flower spike for a while.

Delonix - that is certainly true of the Phalaenopsis. On all my orchids, I never cut the spike until it starts to die. A large number of Paphs however only produce one flower per stem, but these do tend to be truly spectacular blooms. I believe this is one of the reasons for their relative lack of popularity outside of orchid circles. But there are also a lot of sequential flowering Paphs out there too, and this is one of them. My next challenge is to try to get more than one bloom on a stem at the same time!!
