I am posting this photo in answer to a question, to give an example for refurbishing an old path. They are Marshall Saxon slabs and scottish pebbles.

Thanks TT, I did this one a few months ago it looks very impressive when you see the whole thing. I didn't see the Gardeners' World programme.

Fractal... Just found your path pic ...
... looks lovely .
... has it been easy to maintain ?
Still looking good after 3 years...???
That's the path, not the builder ...
... or maybe both... ;o)

Lol. The path is still there with the gravel between the slabs but the rampaging Pseudosasa japonica on the gravel bed to the left has gone (both gravel and bamboo) see my blog. I should have used rhizome barrier. It was coming up everywhere!
Flower border just planted on left now and the same for the opposite side once I have removed the last vestiges of another of the same variety of bamboo on the other side. I'll post pics when finished.

Funny, I'm currently having a tea break between stripping wallpaper in the main bedroom...its tedious but has to be done, guests stopping in a week!!!

When there is a special reason to complete a task ...
... there always seems much more incentive to get it done quickly ...Lol.
I've just mowed my lawns ... but only because rain is due tomorrow ... !!!

Oh! TT Rain lovely, I think they'll be taxing it here when it starts again.
I have always loved working with stone, I remember helping on drystone walls at about the age of 7, to help keep sheep out in bad weather. I have made numerous paths this way over the years, better than block paving which is a catchment for rain water and will just run off to drains. An open aggregate conserves moisture, is easy to top up and is low maintenance. Stepping stones in wet weather and the dark give you a firm footing. I am putting on a better picture of the path.

Thanks Bob. I'm hoping the rain won't miss my garden..Lol.
Lucky you working with drystone walls and paths ...
Maybe in the winter, when you are less busy, you could write a blog about those, and give us more advice please...
I like stones, pebbles, cobbles, etc.
That's why I created those categories for GoYpedia .. and they are some of the pages I edit. Lol.
