Well, Shirley, I had to use weedkiller as these started to come up in the middle of my obelisk! I've been digging them out from my wide border for 5 years....I've almost got them under control. The roots go down to Australia, and they're as thick as parsnips. :-(((((

Digging them out for 5 years ? ? ? How I wish I'd never brought them with me from a previous garden ! I'll carry on removing every tiny leaf ... lol !

still a pretty flower though. ;-)

Certainly is, just way too 'thuggish' in my garden !

And mine! I can't believe why our predecessors let it go so mad. It used to 'flop' all over anything else I planted, and kill 'em off. I 'had' to get rid of a lot of it. :-((((

I had to lift paving stones to get rid of it!!

The flowers might be, but when it comes to roots....be afraid, be very afraid! LOL.

And don't plant it anywhere near a patio!!!!!!!!
2 Aug, 2010
Don't plant the tall ones AT ALL......:-((((((((((((((((((((((((((

When Sue and I got together she gave me a clump, as my garden was a wilderness, saying "don't worry, you won't kill it"!!!!
2 Aug, 2010
LOL....I do! Weedkiller.........

Sue & I had a very different approach - she gets me to lift the paving slabs and pull the roots. I just moved house!!
