This is a better photo of the stepping stone path. It is in part of the back garden, leading down to Mrs. Tommy's area which is behind the Passiflora on the right, that suffered badly in the winter but is just beginning to revive.

Thanks TT ,Those are Scottish pebbles with clay in with them which makes a good base.

When you open the bag you think you have purchased a load of rubbish as the pebbles are covered in thick brown clay. You have to spread them out where you want them to go, wash them over with care with a watering can and leave them to dry, if you can still see clay you need to do it again, light rain (if only) is a great help. After being laid for a week or two the clay is all underneath giving the pebbles a perfect adhesive for a long time if undisturbed.
